Department: Emergency Medicine
Responsibilities- Lead clinical informatics initiatives within the Emergency Medicine department
- Collaborate with IT teams to optimize electronic health record systems and clinical decision support tools
- Analyze clinical data to improve patient care workflows and safety outcomes
- Provide clinical expertise for technology implementation and system upgrades
- Train and support clinical staff on informatics tools and best practices
- Conduct research in emergency medicine informatics and participate in scholarly activities
- Serve as liaison between clinical teams and technology departments
- Develop and maintain clinical protocols integrated with digital systems
- MD degree with residency training in Emergency Medicine
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
- Active medical license eligible for Virginia licensure
- Clinical informatics fellowship training or equivalent experience
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
- Board certification in Clinical Informatics
- Experience with Epic or similar EHR systems
- Research experience in healthcare informatics
Project management experience - Advanced degree in informatics, health administration, or related field
- Teaching and mentoring experience
