Assistant Field Engineer (Hourly) – Richmond, VA
Holder Construction is currently seeking an Assistant Field Engineer in Richmond, VA.
The perfect person for this job is a team player who thrives in a challenging and fast‑paced yet supported environment in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of teamwork, the ability to work independently on assignments, handle multiple projects at one time while remaining flexible, and work within tight deadlines.
Responsibilities- Operate electronic total station instrument, transit, Auto‑level and other surveying instruments.
- Read, review, and interpret maps, drawings and diagrams.
- Set and mark stakes for slopes, grades and other construction purposes.
- Determine and set markers, lines, corners, elevations, grades, alignments, angles, positions and distances.
- Maintain total station and field book. Maintain survey equipment and tools.
- Perform related field and office engineering work.
- 2‑year construction/surveying experience using total station and site levels.
- High school diploma/GED, complete understanding of surveying math, and good communication skills.
- Ability to work in an OSHA compliant safety environment, work outside, and work overtime and weekend hours.
- Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
