Summary/ObjectiveThe Industrial Piping Superintendent is responsible for the day-to-day activities of crews on assigned mechanical projects. Provides guidance and direction to crews in budgeting and scheduling. Ensures job quality and customer satisfaction is maintained at every project stage. Builds strong relationships with clients, customers, and vendors to cultivate a positive work environment. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this role is a working superintendent, directly performing a wide range of skilled construction tasks.
EssentialFunctions
- Supervises field crew, subcontractor and craft activities, including determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, and documentation
- Coordinates work of different crafts, company departments, and/or other contractors
- Acts as liaison with engineering, estimating, and project teams to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and scheduling
- Coordinates with other departments (Quality Control and Engineering) to ensure required materials, equipment, inspections, and support craft activities
- Resolves problems in construction issues, monitors productivity, ensures craft compliance with project safety program, and documents/corrects actions
- Performs other duties as assigned
Note: This position has supervisory responsibility.
Required- 4–7 years of experience as a General Foreman or equivalent (Construction Mechanical General Superintendent or related) and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
- Prior experience supervising large teams
- Experience with man-hour reports, job cost reporting, workforce planning and estimating
- Advanced understanding of construction cost control, forecasting and goal setting
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work across varied disciplines
- Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients and colleagues
- OSHA 30 and CPR
- Ability to read and interpret: design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, specifications; contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors
Travel: May require travel (typically not overnight).
Preferred- 10 years of experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment
- Prior military experience
- HS diploma or GED equivalent
Work Environment: May involve varying temperatures, both indoor and outdoor, inclement weather, noise exposure, fumes or airborne particles, confined spaces, or work at heights.
Physical Demands: Use of construction equipment; may work aloft, climb, bend, reach, stand or walk for long periods; lift up to 50 lbs; color vision and depth perception required.
TravelMay require travel (typically not overnight).
