Job Title: Child Care Teacher
Pay: $20-$22 Per Hour
Shift: M-F, a 7.5‑hour shift between 6A-8P.
Location: Richmond, VA, 23298
Schedule: Permanent Role
Job DutiesUtilizing the Reggio education approach, the Child Care Teacher plans, develops, and implements child‑centered and adaptive lesson plans and provides a safe, secure, and engaging environment for children aged six weeks to six years. As part of a teaching team, the tutor ensures that interactions with children support their self‑esteem and promote growth and development. The teacher makes learning a fun process that encourages children to reach their full potential.
- Plan, develop, and implement lesson plans for the assigned classroom.
- Document children’s daily progress and activities and prepare reports for parents.
- Ensure classroom cleanliness and that it is free of health hazards or infection control risks.
- Supervise teacher aides and volunteers assigned to the classroom or within the teacher’s scope of practice.
- Provide support for program goals designed to promote autonomy, respect for children’s abilities, parental involvement, and enriched experience.
- Demonstrate understanding of how Reggio concepts are implemented in indoor and outdoor classrooms.
- Adhere to licensing and/or accrediting body requirements and standards.
- Develop lesson plans/goals that nurture and promote cognitive, social, and motor development.
- Plan for and promote gross and fine motor development, language skills, and independence.
- Enhance self‑concepts and self‑esteem through positive interactions with children and families.
- Document and provide feedback/observations.
- Prepare, review, and maintain written reports and records for each child.
- Follow established policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to support best practices.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, special sessions, and mandatory CE events.
- Maintain collaborative team relationships with other teachers and staff.
- Communicate with other teachers, team leader, site supervisor, or director about the needs of children and staff.
- Review data for each child and facilitate smooth transitions for parents and children.
- Utilize infection control procedures and demonstrate safe awareness of environmental needs.
- Maintain clean and safe playground supervision.
- Ensure cleaning solutions are prepared correctly, labeled, and stored safely.
- Coordinate environmental needs with the team to maintain a safe, clean, and well‑stocked area that meets the needs of children and families.

- Previous experience working with children aged six (6) weeks to six (6) years of age (paid or unpaid).
- Two (2) years of formal experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
