Overview

Manager, Product Management - Small Business Bank, Marketing & Acquisitions Experience

At Capital One, we believe great products begin with a deep understanding of our customers. From our earliest days, we pioneered the use of predictive modeling to individually personalize credit card offers, turning the entire industry on its head. As we’ve grown bigger, we’ve found more and more ways to use technology and face-to-face conversations to understand the human problems associated with money and finances.

We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.

In the Small Business Bank, our customers are the lifeblood of the US economy, making up 99% of businesses in the US and accounting for 44% of the country’s GDP. We’ve built an organization that is focused on listening to and learning from the millions of business customers we serve every day to make sure our products, services and experiences work as hard as they do.

On our team, we combine that customer-centric approach with our heritage of data-driven decision making to design, build, and test our way to best-in-class, business-grade experiences that help Small Businesses succeed.

Capital One Small Business Bank is seeking a data-driven Product Manager to join our Growth team at the critical intersection of Marketing and Digital Acquisitions. In this role, you will lead the product strategy for our public-facing web presence to ensure the journey from prospect to customer is seamless, personalized, and frictionless.

Responsibilities

You will lead the vision, strategy, and execution of a tailored, digital front door by leveraging customer data to ensure that when a small business owner hits our site, the experience reflects who they are and how they found us. Leveraging data and customer insights, you will also focus on optimizing the initial stages of the journey to reduce unintended friction from the path to become a customer.

You will help us instill a culture of rapid experimentation by utilizing incremental builds to test hypotheses, learn quickly, and scale what works to help small businesses succeed from day one.

In this role, you’ll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas which we consider to be the foundation for successful Product management:

  • Human Centered - Obsesses about customer needs to reimagine and innovate product solutions.
  • Business Focused - Delivers game-changing outcomes by focusing on leverage and execution excellence.
  • Technology Driven - Leverages technology to deliver innovative and resilient solutions that enable both near term and long term value.
  • Integrated Problem Solving - Identifies and resolves complex problems to deliver outcomes while mitigating product risks.
  • Transformational Leadership - Leads cross functional teams to solve customer problems and drive organizational alignment.
Qualifications

We want you if you are:

Intellectually Curious. You ask why, you explore, you re not afraid to blurt out your crazy idea or follow an email chain for weeks to find someone with an answer. Comfortable with ambiguity, a hunger to learn and a seeker of new challenges.

Communicator & Influencer. You can communicate complex ideas clearly regardless of your audience. Our team knows their priorities and why they’re doing what they’re doing. You always can rally associates to work with you.

Do-er. You’re biased toward action, you try things and sometimes you fail. You can get around roadblocks and stay focused on your goals. You’re well organized, able to multitask and able to prioritize your work.

Passionate & Customer Focus. You care about growing others and bringing them together around what’s possible. You get a thrill from the journey of building and shipping products, and you have a desire and ability to connect with our external or internal customers to fully understand their needs.

Learner. You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when the time comes to ask for help.
