Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Program Services, the Administrative Assistant/Receptionist serves as receptionist, front desk area monitor and administrative support for staff and guests. Provides an exceptional customer service. Promotes programs by sharing information. Answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination. Greets, checks-in and checks-out clients, volunteers and guests. Monitors security controls by promoting a safe environment.
Provides general information about Salvation Army services and operations. Performs a variety of clerical functions to include data entry, correspondence, preparing documents, preparing deposits, photocopying, etc.
- Answers telephone in a courteous and tactful manner providing accurate and complete information regarding operations and/or services.
- Resolves or refers concerns and complaints promptly.
- Records and updates statistical information; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same (i.e. – number of calls received, what resources/information seeking, etc.).
- Perform routine typing of standard departmental documents, cards, and labels with little or no deviation from established methods and procedures; proof-reads documents for accuracy and completeness before completing one project and going on to another project.
- Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreational environment; however, normal office work occurs where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
- Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
- Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations and follow emergency procedures.
- Ability to multi-task, follow instructions, and complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.

- High school diploma or GED required supplemented by additional Business, Communication or Education courses preferred.
- Two years minimum of experience, preferably in diverse and urban areas
