The Ag Tech Program Assistant supports outreach and administration for the National Science Foundation Advanced Technological Education (NSF ATE) grant “Cross‑Pollination Skillsets:
Growing Mechatronics and Agricultural Collaborations for Producing Skilled Agricultural Technicians.” The role helps build a new Agriculture Technology (Ag‑Tech) Career Studies Certificate and engages students, industry, and community partners.
- Communicate and coordinate with the Business and Industry Leadership Team (BILT).
- Plan and execute recruiting events, field trips, and speaker series.
- Record and report metrics of recruiting events and track student research experiences.
- Collaborate with the VWCC Community College Access Program (CCAP) advising team and the Enrollment Center to inform high‑school graduates of Ag‑Tech opportunities.
- Plan and coordinate outreach activities at middle and high schools within the college’s service area.
- Support recruitment efforts for the Ag‑Tech program.
- Assist with other duties as assigned and emergency declarations as required.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite for record‑keeping, communication, and tracking.
- Basic clerical skills (filing, requisitions, record keeping).
- Customer service experience with diverse customers.
- Planning, organizing, and scheduling events and meetings.
- Ability to work in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced environment.
- Team‑oriented collaboration with campus departments and industry partners.
- Strong communication, documentation, scheduling, and record‑keeping skills.
- Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia purchasing requirements.
- Basic principles of agriculture to communicate project objectives.
Position is contingent on NSF ATE grant funding, secured through May 31, 2027. No travel required. No vehicle operation or supervision of employees.
