MGCC | Warehouse Associate

Warehouse Associate is responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the warehouse including receipt of food orders and in‑kind donations, maintaining required inventory levels, ensuring specifications of quantity and quality of orders are correct, verifying stock and identifying losses; and maintaining a clean and organized warehouse layout.

Responsibilities Warehouse Operations Management
  • Keeping Warehouse organized, and sanitary: managing trash, recycle, sweeping and cleaning of all items used in the pantry and warehouse.
  • Supervision and Training of all volunteers and warehouse related programs.
  • Donation management: keeping accurate records and maintaining integrity of all incoming donations and deliveries. Weighing and recording all donations, sorting through donations and organizing appropriate display for easy accessibility in the pantry.
  • Overseeing warehouse equipment operation and basic maintenance: i.e. cleaning and battery charging of the forklift, and all pallet jacks, and box truck.
  • Assisting in managing all food pantry operations: computer systems, inventory management and volunteer training, and pantry merchandising.
  • Operate agency vehicle (box truck) for the purpose of picking up food orders and donations.
  • Support warehouse operations during special events, distributions, or high‑volume donation periods, including occasional evening and weekend shifts.
Inventory Management
  • Keeping accurate records of all inventory and work with Houston Food Bank on product acquisitions.
  • Ensuring all products are dated and organized per food handling safety protocol.
  • Ensure inventory is managed first in first out to minimize spoilage.
  • Work with Pantry coordinator on weekly ordering of food supplies and additional supplies.
  • Manage daily stocking of all pantry shelves and refrigeration and warehouse inventory.
  • Work with Houston Food Bank to manage annual inventory count.
Partner Management
  • Develop relationships with all donation partners.
  • Work with facility vendors to coordinate services and report missed services.
  • Work with Catholic Charities Operations team to develop best practices and make improvements to the warehouse facility and programming.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) years of experience in building services or related field.
  • Forklift certification or must be able to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • First Aid and CPR certifications or must be able to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
Skills Requirements
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety operations and practices regarding office and warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to multi‑task, schedule orders and activities, manage and collect information.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office with the ability to learn new computer platforms with ease.
  • Maintains general knowledge of market operations.
  • Experience in assessing for compliance/safety issues and creating and implementing action plans based on those assessments.
  • Strong communication with diverse groups.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment including power jack, baler and other equipment.
  • Meet deadlines and set priorities.
