Job Description
Position Summary

The Spanish Club Advisor is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and supervising all activities of the Spanish Club. This position promotes cultural awareness, language development, and global citizenship by engaging students in activities related to Spanish language and Hispanic cultures. The Advisor works with students, parents, and staff to plan events, foster student participation, and ensure compliance with district policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coordination
  • Organize and supervise Spanish Club activities, events, and meetings.
  • Hold a minimum of one meeting per month.
  • Develop and submit an annual program calendar at the start of the year, including all relevant dates for meetings, events, and activities.
  • Communicate schedules and updates to students, parents, and staff.
  • Enter all meetings, events, and activities into the district’s facility use software (FMX).
Student Engagement & Promotion
  • Coordinate club marketing and student recruitment to encourage active participation.
  • Promote cultural awareness and appreciation through events, field trips, guest speakers, and community involvement.
  • Support students in developing leadership skills by guiding them in planning and executing activities.
Budget & Fund Management
  • Maintain working knowledge of the club budget.
  • Collect and deposit funds in accordance with Board of Education policy.
  • Monitor and manage expenditures in compliance with district procedures.
Qualification Requirements

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise students individually and in small or large group settings during meetings, events, and school-sponsored activities.
  • Oversee parents and volunteers assisting with club programs.
Skills and Abilities
Language Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents, correspondence, and instructions accurately.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Capable of effectively engaging with students, parents, and community members.
Mathematics Skills
  • Ability to perform accurate calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, and ratios.
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills in planning and overseeing club activities.
Other

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Understanding of district policies, Board of Education requirements, and student activity guidelines.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and listen.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May lift or move objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
Work Environment
  • Noise levels vary from quiet to loud depending on activities.
  • Work is performed in classrooms, meeting areas, and event venues.
Compensation
  • Compensation is in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement between Richmond Community Schools and MEA-Local 1/Richmond Education Association (REA).
