Monitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary
Tele 4 is a 10-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.
Tele 3 is a 22-bed telemetry unit. This unit specializes in general medical surgical and telemetry patients such as but not limited to pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke CHF and chest pain patients. Post-operative patients such as GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, Heart Cath/PCI. The population has multiple co-morbidities and complex care. The patient population is admitted / transferred from ICU, ED and PACU.
Job DescriptionMonitor Tech/Patient Care Technician (PCT)/Unit Secretary
Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the PCT/Unit Secretary provides direct and indirect patient care. This role provides excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. In addition, unit secretaries play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within hospital units by providing administrative support and ensuring effective communication between staff and patients.
- Responsible for assisting nursing with cardiac monitoring of patients with cardiac monitoring orders.
- Care and maintenance of cardiac equipment.
- Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice and including but not limited to:
- Assists patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
- Assists patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity. Records patient intake and output (I & O).
- Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Assists patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
- Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient's nurse.
- Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
- Responds promptly to customer needs, both patient and visitor
- Responds to requests for service and assistance in a positive manner.
- Prefer 1 year Cardiac Monitor Experience
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
- Full-Time 32 weekly hours (0.8 FTE) - 40 weekly hours (1.0 FTE)
