The Department of Applied Human Sciences is seeking a Graduate Assistant. This is a stipend position for 20 hours each week. The graduate assistant will generally work a standard weekly schedule but must be flexible for things such as training and fine dining meals, as well as some evening or weekend work.

• Must be enrolled at EKU.

• Preference for applicants with minimal daytime classes or clinical work.
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
• Food Handlers Card for Madison County Kentucky
• A working vehicle and valid U.S. driver's license

• 80% - Experiential Labs and Events
  • Supervision of students enrolled in food preparation courses.
  • Assisting faculty/staff with laboratory tasks, maintenance, and/or supervision.
  • Supervise and maintain food safety and sanitation.
  • Supervise and maintain an efficient, clean, well-organized lab space. This includes laundering linens, upkeep of composting efforts, and inventory.
  • Assistance with tasks related to Café Burrier, the student-run restaurant, in Fall semesters.
  • Assistance in food procurement and preparation.
  • Supervision of students in other lab spaces such as the sewing/textile labs.
  • Obtain a Food Handler’s Card/Certification for Madison County, Kentucky through the Madison County Health Department.

• 20% - Office Duties to Support Faculty
  • Aid in faculty research and course content development.
  • Create professional PowerPoint presentations.
  • Utilize Blackboard to create quizzes, assignments, and post course materials.
  • Grade assignments, quizzes, and other course requirements using a rubric.
  • Acts in compliance with University policies, procedures and standards - (Essential)
