Overview
Schedule: Night Shift. 6pm to 6:30am, 24 hours weekly. Two 12-hour shifts Weekday, rotating weekends & holidays, flex schedule as needed
About The PositionActs as a liaison between inpatient, outpatient, and outreach customers and laboratory personnel by providing information and resolving service issues in a timely and courteous manner. Responsibilities also include performing general clerical office work associated with laboratory operations, such as answering and transferring telephone calls, retrieving specimens from the pneumatic tube system, logging and labeling specimens, processing specimens, handling registration and order entry, distributing reports, and scanning reports into the medical record.
OverviewOf Responsibilities
- Acts as a liaison between inpatient, outpatient, and outreach customers and laboratory personnel by providing information and resolving service issues in a timely and courteous manner.
- Fills online orders for lab supplies for the outreach collection sites.
- Retrieves and processes specimens from the Outpatient Care Center and the pneumatic tubes.
- Checks in specimens from couriers and signs courier manifests.
- Remains proficient in Cerner information systems and Epic Cadence and Chart Review navigation. Maintains documentation as appropriate.
- Assists laboratory personnel in specimen add-ons, location, and storage.
- Assists with Health Fair registration, ordering, and processing.
- Assists with loading patient samples onto the automated line and/or transports to their appropriate benches for testing.
- Performs general clerical office work associated with laboratory operations including answering and transferring telephone calls, specimen logging and labeling, registration and order entry, report distribution, and report scanning into the medical record.
- Registers and processes Extended Care Facility (ECF) orders for non-Epic providers.
- Follows instructions, makes reasonable judgments, and uses resources to answer questions and problem solve while understanding limitations.
- Escalates issues and complaints promptly and appropriately to management.
- Adheres to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

Education & Experience- Minimum 1 year in a lab or healthcare-related clerical setting
- Customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with telephone, computer, and office equipment
- Familiarity with medical and/or laboratory terminology
