What To Expect
As a Facility Technician (Rail) at our Richmond facility, you will work independently and with other personnel to maintain and operate equipment and processes in the Midstream business unit. You will manage all rail car activities, including driving the rail car mover, spotting, and unloading rail cars. Work involves hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical conditions include outside weather, heat, noise, vibration, occasional heights, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
You will also perform various duties to keep your processing unit operating safely and at specified rates.
What You’ll Do
- Operate a rail car mover and unload rail cars
- Perform routine pipeline and/or facility maintenance
- Monitor controls for pipeline delivery and receipts
- Ensure quality and quantity of refined products and/or feedstock
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts
- Ensure timely completion of required paperwork
- Stay abreast of changes in operation requirements, policies and processes
- Perform operational duties in accordance with the Facility Operating and Procedures Guide and Local Operating Procedures Guide
- Respond to emergencies and maintain emergency and measurement equipment
- Complete mandated safety and regulatory training (CBT)
- Maintain professional relationships with customers
- Perform environmental and regulatory checks, including containment of seeps and spills
- Assist with transport driver and new employee training
- Enforce all safety rules and regulations
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly office inventory reconciliation and required reports
- Acquire operator qualification in a DOT facility
What You’ll Bring (Required Qualifications)
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 18 years old
- Valid driver’s license
- Willing and able to perform/comply with the following items, with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Climb ladders and stairs up to 40 feet to operate valves or perform maintenance
- Raise and transport articles up to 50 pounds
- Walk, stand, stoop, sit and carry material on even and uneven terrain
- Work outside in harsh weather conditions
- Wear PPE such as flame‑retardant clothing, eye and ear protection, steel‑toed boots, and hard hat
- Work any shift in a 24/7 operation (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays)
- Work alone for a high percentage of the time
- Obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) if applicable
What Makes You Stand Out
- 3+ years of direct operational experience in the oil and gas industry
- Safety and environmental alertness, promoting a safe work environment
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Previous experience in SAP
Compensation Range
Base salary $80,700 – $98,670.
