The CDPH’s Richmond Campus is a 29-acre property housing over 1,200 employees, located in Richmond’s Marina Bay and just minutes from the El Cerrito Del Norte and Richmond BART stations, with free shuttle service between the campus and the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station. The campus includes offices, laboratories, and a warehouse. This position supports the CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by performing a variety of skilled work in the operations, maintenance, and repair of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration systems, ventilation, lighting, power, water treatment, and other mechanical systems in support of the CDPH, Richmond Campus. The Stationary Engineer may instruct and/or lead other Stationary Engineers, Maintenance Mechanics, Building Maintenance Workers, and Service Assistants.

In addition, this position may direct contractors in support of the infrastructure and equipment repairs.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Follow oral and written directions
• Lay out work for others and direct them in this work
• The ability to analyze situations accurately and take effective action
• EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Universal / refrigerant certification

If you are new to California State Service, you must take and pass the examination for this classification to be eligible for hire. Current state employees without transfer or list eligibility must also complete and pass the examination for this classification to qualify for this position.
