Our member, Forest Fence & Deck, is looking for a Carpentry Foreman to join their team in Richmond Hill, ON.
Title: Carpenter Crew Foreman for Decks and Fences
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: Five-day work week with shifts of 8–10 hours
Salary: $30–$40/hr
Working Conditions: Standing, sitting, and lifting for long periods (up to ~50 lb). Outdoor work with varying weather, heights, and ladders. Endurance required.

What We Are Looking ForThe crew foreman will be a skilled carpenter who takes pride in their work and strives for a high level of quality and job site safety. Forest Fence & Deck is a Pro Platinum Trex installer and takes pride in perfection. The job location will vary but centered around Richmond Hill and the GTA. A company truck will be provided to go on site and return.
The crew foreman will be someone with experience leading a small team of crew labourers, while being able to effectively train them on skill advancement and safety.
Job Responsibilities- Frame/finish both wood and composite decks according to custom and standard designs, with the ability to read and interpret permit plans and drawings
- Lead or be part of a team of 1–3 carpenters/labourers that will assist with deck installation
- Liaise with project manager to ensure organized and accurate work delivered to customer specifications within budget and on time
- Follow industry safety practices
- Assist in managing equipment/vehicle fleet by arranging repairs and regular maintenance
- Maintain clean job sites
- Use knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and tools to complete deck builds efficiently and safely
- Attention to detail and ability to complete tasks on time
- Future duties may change or be added as business needs change
- Ability and willingness to dig post holes and footings when necessary (most work may be done with machinery)
- 5+ years of framing and carpentry experience, at least 2 years building decks
- Capability to manage the entire building process from start to finish, including understanding foundation allowances, marking, and layout
- Ability to determine landing location and heights, and to draw, cut out, and construct stairs
- Skilled carpenter with knowledge of building codes and methodologies
- Previous Trex experience is an asset
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are assets
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, and other safety certifications are assets
- Vehicle and valid G driver's license
- Steel-toed work boots
