The Payroll Specialist reports to the Manager of Americas Payroll and is a key role in the Open Text Global Payroll function. This role is an in-office position. The Americas payroll population is large, growing, and complex, with opportunities to implement scalable payroll platforms to support employee growth.

The Payroll Specialist role is approximately 70% functional payroll processing and 30% technical project implementation. You will join a team responsible for timely and accurate payroll processing for Canadian entities within Open Text and assist with payroll system configurations and implementations. You will interact with stakeholders in Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, Accounting, and other areas to leverage problem-solving and process-improvement experience.

The primary focus is payroll tasks for US employees, with some processing for Canada employees, including data input, audits/edits, reporting, and collaboration with other payroll team members. Projects include migrating subsets of employees onto the ADP Global View platform with integration to our global HCM system, SAP Success Factors. Cross-over payroll work for LATAM is possible as Open Text values multi-country payroll knowledge.

This role provides high-level customer service to Payroll stakeholders, including employees, Human Resources, Finance, and other Payroll team members, with a focus on confidentiality. Strong interpersonal skills, initiative, and excellent knowledge of payroll practices are required. You ll gain visibility to Sr Management during task completion.

This role is an in-office position, five days a week.

• Working in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, large company environment
• Ensure payments to US and Canada employees are within strict deadlines
• Operate within a Managed Services delivery model with ADP; liaise with Payroll provider (ADP Global View), Human Resources, Variable Compensation and Finance
• Experience with system implementation projects (ADP GV, SAP Success Factors experience highly valuable)
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Audit interfaced HR information for accuracy
• Verify and reconcile each payroll run and resolve discrepancies
• Ensure timely government filings and remittances related to payroll (e.g., garnishments, tax slips)
• Complete Year-End Process and file applicable year-end tax filings
• Identify and process taxable benefits
• Respond to requests and correspondence promptly and efficiently
• Assist employees with payroll requests and questions promptly
• Administer Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) and Stock Options related to payroll
• Year-end ESPP and Stock Options reporting
• Pension remittances and reporting
• Provide GL details to Finance and assist in reconciliations and research
• Stay updated on legislative changes and compliance issues
• Handle special requests (e.g., audits, compensation, legal inquiries)

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in Canada and US Payroll, with an international company and multiple legal entities
• Experience with outsourced payroll packages (ADP Global View, Streamline, Celergo, etc.) strongly preferred
• SAP Success Factors HCM experience
