Most of your role would be spent working with project managers and professional engineers in the planning, designing and construction of airfield projects through the application of theory and principles of civil engineering.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist in the planning, design and construction of airfield and municipal infrastructure projects through the application of theory and principles of civil engineering under the direction of project managers and professional engineers;
• Assist in the development and preparation of figures, design drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, technical reports, etc.;
• Use and remain proficient at using AutoCAD/Civil 3D and other design software to carry out your work;
• Undertake research activities to identify and develop potential solutions to design challenges associated with airfield facility design/construction;
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current Transport Canada, ICAO, FAA and related standards and recommended practices;
• Assist in the project management and contract administration duties for infrastructure projects including but not limited to the preparation of budget/schedule updates, progress payment certificates, shop drawing review, site instructions, change orders, commissioning inspections, etc.;
• Inspect project sites and evaluate contractor work to determine compliance with Contract Documents and prepare daily records, summary reports, update schedule, and other documentation as required;
• Plan and conduct site visits;
• Assist with the preparation of proposals;
• Provide support to the Project Team as required; and
• Other duties as assigned

Our civil technologists have a keen eye for detail and can utilize this strength to solve problems daily.

• Completed the Civil Engineering Technology Program.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• AutoCAD/Civil3D experience as well as the MS Office suite of programs (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience in the field assisting with surveying, materials testing and/or construction inspection is considered an asset.
• Topographic survey experience, Auto Turn/Avi Plan experience and/or an interest in airports/ aviation are considered assets.
