Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to support inventory valuation, manufacturing accounting, and financial analysis. This role partners closely with operations and supply chain to ensure accurate cost capture, margin visibility, and inventory integrity. Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is highly preferred.
Responsibilities- Maintain accurate inventory valuation
- Monitor material, labor, and overhead transactions to ensure proper cost capture
- Analyze gross margins and production performance
- Reconcile inventory subledger to general ledger
- Review and resolve inventory discrepancies and transactional errors
- Support month‑end close including inventory journal entries and account reconciliations
- Analyze production orders, purchase price fluctuations, and cost drivers
- Partner with purchasing and operations to improve inventory accuracy, costing processes, and report out key metrics
- Assist with budgeting and actual comparison analysis related to inventory and cost of goods sold
- Support internal and external audit requests
Recommend improvements, adaptations, or revisions in the accounting system, controls, and procedures - Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience (manufacturing and distribution preferred)
- Strong ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365 strongly preferred)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Ability to analyze large data sets and identify cost trends, margin drivers, and operational inefficiencies
- Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows and supply chain transactions
- Ability to troubleshoot transactional errors within ERP systems
- Experience with financial reporting and visualization tools (Power BI preferred)
- Knowledge of internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting
- Strong business partnering skills — able to communicate financial insights to non‑finance stakeholders
- Process improvement mindset with ability to document and refine accounting procedures
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
