Reporting to the Supervisor of Energy and Waste within Public Works Operations, you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of various City assets across Richmond Hill’s network of roads and parks. The ability to support a high level of customer service is mandatory.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Waste Collection- Conduct regular litter picking and planned garbage/recycling collection and disposal of waste in parks.
- Respond to various cases from the public related to waste collection and illegal dumping.
- General cleaning duties.
- General maintenance and repair of municipal infrastructure (i.e., waste containers).
- Provide support for special events, including delivery of materials, set up, takedown, and clean‑up.
- Collect waste and litter at events.
- Respond to the site within 30 minutes of emergency calls.
- Perform winter maintenance of facilities, sidewalks, and snow windrow clearing.
- Perform daily record keeping and log book maintenance.
- High school diploma.
- Post‑secondary education in parks operations, horticulture, arboriculture, or related fields is an asset.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to work shifts and meet the mandatory requirements of "standby" in accordance with the provisions of the C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement and City Policies.
- Be on call for the entire duration of the winter standby schedule (typically, the first week of November until the first week of April).
- Demonstrate the City’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage, and service.
- Previous experience working in a municipal setting outdoors is an asset.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to deal with the public courteously and effectively.
- Must possess Green Patch CSA approved 8" safety boots.
- Ontario Class "G" driver’s license in good standing and provide a satisfactory current driver’s abstract from the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO).
- Be able to work outdoors during all weather conditions and available to work 7 days a week including holidays.
