Commis Chef Pastry - Casual on Call
River Rock Casino Resort is currently recruiting for aCasual/on-call Commis Chef – Pastry to join our team. Under the supervision of the Assistant Pastry Chef, this position is responsible for the preparation of food items, and maintaining all company standards through adherence to all safety and hygiene policies and procedures.
Duties and responsibilities for our Commis Chef – Pastry will include:
- Preparing mis en place (“setting in place” of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production
- Cleaning kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures
- Attending monthly culinary meetings
- Liaising and communicating effectively with all appropriate operational departments
- Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
- Performing other duties as assigned or directed
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Available to work in a variety of shifts including early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends as we operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of pastry experience
- Culinary education an asset
- Level 1 Food Safe Certification, Safe Food Handling or BASICS.fst Food Handler Certificate
- The ability to successfully obtain a Criminal Record Check
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
- A commitment to continually increase your knowledge of our products and services in order to offer exceptional experiences to our guests
- A willingness to learn, develop and achieve new skills for personal and professional development

Candidates must be ready and willing to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, late nights, graveyards, weekends and holidays. The hours of work will be based on customer and business needs.
