Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency - Training Opportunity

Salary: CAD $41.42/hr – $55.91/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency nursing to patients of all ages presenting with a wide variety of symptoms within an uncontrolled environment.
  • Assess patient needs and prioritize care requirements often with limited information.
  • Stabilize and resuscitate multi-trauma victims and prepare for and respond to disaster situations.
  • Enhance quality of life from the perspective of the patient/family.
  • Consult, confer, and collaborate with other health care givers.
  • Demonstrate expertise and leadership in nursing practice.
  • Maintain and advance clinical competence.
  • Participate on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Registered as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Approximately one year of recent acute medical/surgical experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in nursing practice related to designated patient group and in planning and implementing plans of care.
  • Proficiency in interviewing and assessment skills and in responding appropriately to patient care responses.
  • Experience in the management of trauma in an emergency setting and in adjusting to unexpected events.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position and knowledge of medical equipment and supplies appropriate to the clinical area.
Training Program

Post‑basic training education prior to working in the Department. Full‑time training at BCIT & practicum locations Aug. 31 – Nov. 23, 2026.

Applicants must successfully complete the training and agree to remain with Vancouver Coastal Health as a regular status nurse in the area of nursing applicable to the education program for at least 18 months subsequent to completing training.
