Welder Job Description
The Welder is responsible for the welding service, maintenance, and repair of small to large marine vessels. This role requires the fabrication of custom prototypes from supplied drawings and performing random maintenance on vessels. The Welder must be proficient in setting up and welding mild steel using pulsed GMAW push‑pull welding equipment in all positions to produce sound welds at a consistent rate, ensuring both the schedule and quality of vessels in production.
WorkEnvironment
Work in both indoor confined spaces and outdoor environments, including the yard and some elevated work up to 25 feet high. Utilize a Wire Feed welding machine. The dress code requires steel‑toed safety boots, a welding helmet, and safety glasses/goggles, which are provided. Candidates should have their own basic tools like a chipping hammer. The location is on Mitchell Island in Richmond, Canada.
The shift is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with potential overtime and travel to off‑site locations.
- Set up and weld mild steel using pulsed GMAW push‑pull welding equipment in all positions to maintain production schedule and quality.
- Read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
- Use welding and manual flame‑cutting equipment.
- Complete repairs, modifications, and retrofits.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- 3+ years of marine experience.
- 3+ years of welding in all positions.
- Experience in welding flux, aluminum, and mild steel.
- Proficiency in Flux Core (FCAW) All Position Welding Processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Spool gun experience.
- Experience with welding in all positions, including overhead.
Skills & Qualifications
- Fitting experience.
- Forklift experience.
- Confined space experience.
- CWB ticket in all positions.
- Strong safety mindset.
- Quality‑oriented with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Positive team attitude.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, BC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
