Major Responsibilities
  • Create and construct patterns and guides as templates for metal cutting.
  • Operate light machinery, including brake presses, shears, cutting torches, and grinders.
  • Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metals according to the templates/blueprints.
  • Assemble, fit, and weld metal sections and plates to create complete units or subunits.
  • Install fabricated components in the final product.
  • Preheat work pieces to render them malleable.
  • Monitor quality of fabrication and production.
  • Set up and operate heavy machine tools, such as radial drill, end mill and edge planer.
  • Monitor materials usage and report on any material issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of fabrication compliance, practices, and techniques.
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor.
  • Comply with all rules, regulations, protocols and established metrics.
  • Analyze blueprints and engineering drawings to assess materials needed and plan the sequence of tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Effectively and efficiently prioritize daily work.
  • Accurately complete work orders and time cards.
  • May be asked to cross‑train on other/all functions at the facility.
  • Other assigned work as required.
  • Completion of either a 3‑4 year apprenticeship or have accumulated 4+ years of experience in the trade.
  • Strong safety mindset.

  • Responsible, accountable, and dependable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications
  • Completion of a 3‑4 year apprenticeship or 4+ years of experience in the trade.
  • Proficiency with light and heavy machinery for metal cutting and fabrication.
  • Strong safety mindset and knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Responsible, accountable, and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Adaptability to a fast‑paced, collaborative work environment.
  • Physical fitness to perform required tasks safely.
