Join the Richmond Redevelopment Capital Projects Team and help shape Richmond’s future health care delivery through a major redevelopment, including a new acute care tower and renovated spaces. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and be responsible for ensuring all clinical/operational requirements are in place to support seamless operationalization of new and renovated spaces. As a Nursing or Allied Health professional, you’ll lead operational planning for clinical services and workflows by translating care needs into design and guiding clinical/operational teams through all phases of the project from detailed planning through to opening.

Project

Manager responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Clinical Planner, the Project Manager leads and directs all aspects of assigned projects for designated programs/services within the Richmond Redevelopment (RHR) Project within Richmond Community of Care. Works collaboratively with the Deputy Chief Clinical Planner and Clinical Director to ensure that project deliverables are completed on time and on budget, as described in the project plan. Leads and coordinates project activities including financial responsibility for the project and management of resources as deemed necessary to meet the schedule and budget for project deliverables.

Works with stakeholders at all levels and inspires others to achieve goals and deliverables through facilitation, effective communication of corporate visions, and ensuring the culture is one in which individual competencies can thrive. Establishes project team and provides leadership, guidance and support to designated project staff. Projects may involve process improvement and work redesign, productivity review/staff deployment and the provision of strategic information to support those processes.

Findings and recommendations have a direct financial and staff resources impact. Communicates with all levels of staff and management within the RHR Project and across VCH to facilitate consensus, consult, negotiate and share information. Liaises with consultants, vendors and other health care entities and other external agencies to ensure best for project decisions.

As a Project Manager II with Vancouver Coastal Health you will
  • Establish detailed project charter, plans, and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables.
  • Execute project plan according to project methodologies, ensures successful and coordinated completion of project components, facilitates consensus with partners as needed, and ensures readiness for project implementation.
  • Track project progress according to project plan, monitors, and reports on the status of projects and major issues/obstacles encountered. Makes recommendations regarding projects scope changes.
  • Implement and/or contributes to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Develop project budgets within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints and uses best utilization methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets.
  • Maintain ongoing support for initiatives from project sponsors and user groups, keeps partners aware of project status and ensures effective communication channels are in place.
  • Establish project team and structure by gathering input from partners, identifying needs and skills required, recommending and/or negotiating contracts for provision of goods and services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to project team members, conveys policies and priorities, directs work and ensures issues are resolved or escalated to ensure project deliverables and timelines are met.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with health and safety requirements. Immediately reports unsafe situations by notifying supervisor or other appropriate personnel.
