Air Liquide is currently in need of a Plant/Facility Manager who will be responsible for managing plant cylinder production to achieve optimum operating performance consistent with the corporate philosophy, business strategies and operating plans. The incumbent will be managing a Large Sized Industrial Cylinder Filling Plant in Richmond with management of Remote Cylinder Filling Plant in Kelowna (2 operators) as well.

- Lead and manage all facets of the Cylinder Filling Plant operation, including personnel, budget, assets and customer relationships.
- Develop and lead an engaged high‑performing team, fostering teamwork, accountability, and growth.
- Champion a safety‑first culture at the plant by providing safe and environmentally compliant operations for employees, customers, shareholders and the public. Execute the site‑specific HSEQ Action Plan.
- Prepare, analyze and issue periodic production and performance reports; supply input for development of the annual budget.
- Participate in contractual negotiations with unions and/or employee committees. Ensure employees are recognized for their contribution. Ensure communication between management, employees and their representatives.
- Fully meet the spirit and intent of all applicable laws and legal requirements at all regional facilities. Identify and manage operating permits and ensure compliance with mandatory regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and assist in external and internal audits; manage subsequent action items until they are closed.
- Ensure that industrial activities are carried out by trained resources and that all critical tasks are performed only by qualified personnel.
- Ensure that all plants in the region are properly staffed and recruit new personnel as required. Document each employee’s training needs and ensure that training is delivered and documented. Participate in succession planning.
- Operate in a spirit of continuous improvement focused on being and remaining the most cost‑effective producer in all markets served. Participate in periodic Operations Review.
- Monitor operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), lead root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to meet or exceed performance targets.
- Operate facilities that meet all agreed customer requirements.
- Maintain mechanical integrity and effective preventive maintenance programs for all plant assets throughout their useful lifetime. Coordinate daily maintenance activities with the regional Maintenance Manager and ensure good plant housekeeping.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or Technologist Diploma with experience, or any other education deemed relevant.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification will be an asset.
- Good knowledge of labor, environment, occupational health and safety laws and regulations; business sense; oral and written communication skills.
- 5‑7 years of experience in a continuous operation environment, preferably in the chemical industry.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of managerial experience.
- Excellent understanding of safety protocols.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders.
