TERRA NOVA MIDWIFERY IS INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR REGISTERED
MIDWIVES TO JOIN OUR COMMUNITY-ROOTED, EQUITY-ORIENTED
PRACTICE.
Both full scope and Postpartum Only RM positions are available.
We provide team-based care and take client load to support 0.75-1.0 FTE for each midwife, depending on team capacity and ratio of primips to multips each month. We have a rotating schedule of 24 hour call shifts with AM handover. We ensure balanced time off. Clinic overhead costs are in line with community rates and not applied to quarterly overhead payments.
At Terra Nova, our care model intentionally reflects the traditional full-scope roots of midwifery:
- full courses of care from early pregnancy through birth and the postpartum period
- attentive, hands‑on labour support
- home and hospital birth
- early postpartum home visits
- building meaningful relationships through direct communication with clients via email and paging access
- support for physiologic birth and informed choice
- serve a diverse population and maintain a full roster with a substantial waitlist each month
Our practice embraces cultural humility, honours diverse identities and backgrounds, and is committed to anti-oppressive care. We prioritize providing equitable health access, including serving sanctuary clients, Indigenous life-givers and anyone whose life stories require careful,
compassionate holding.
We believe midwifery is fundamentally relational. We take time, build trust, and hold space for our colleagues and our clients. In creating a supportive work environment, we are empowered to provide care where our clients feel held, connected, informed, and deeply cared for.
We are seeking RMs who are:
- heart-forward, grounded, and community-minded
- committed to equity, cultural safety, and inclusive care
- collaborative teammates with integrity and a strong work ethic
- passionate about continuity of care and relationship-building
- already aligned with the principles of reproductive choice and respect for all families
We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. New grads, seasoned clinicians, and Bridging Program graduates are all encouraged to apply. Applicants must already be eligible to work in Canada and be (or be immediately eligible to become) registered with the BCCNM. At this time, we are not able to consider candidates requiring immigration sponsorship or need support to obtain Canadian work authorization.
We appreciate your understanding.
