Job DescriptionRotary Hospice House is a community that honors life, values humility, and shares hope. As a Registered Care Aide, you treat all residents, volunteers and staff members with respect and courtesy, affirm the dignity and best interests of each resident, and fulfill your responsibilities with integrity, diligence and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor the health status of residents—including biophysical, emotional, spiritual and psychological needs—to ensure safety and well‑being and assist with planned care.
- Under the direction of the nurse, perform personal care for residents including personal hygiene, laundry, activity and rest, feeding and nutrition, and observe, record and report symptoms and changes in resident condition.
- Assist in transporting residents to showers and various activities.
- Provide a caring environment for residents and families, facilitating participation in personal care plans.
- Perform established procedures to prepare facilities, equipment and supplies, including assisting with admission procedures.
- Maintain pertinent records and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and attend relevant conferences and in‑services to gather knowledge and share trends.
- Foster positive relationships with families and staff members.
- Perform other related duties as required and as listed in the Care Aide duties.
The applicant must hold a current license as a Registered Care Aide with the BC Care Aide Registry, have a clean criminal record check for vulnerable populations, and possess experience or a strong interest in palliation.
Physical Effort/Dexterity RequiredRequires frequent walking and the physical ability to provide personal care. You must be able to seek help from co‑workers when two people are required to safely deliver care.
Concentration and Skills RequiredMust consistently offer personal care in a respectful manner, accurately assess and report changes in physical and emotional well‑being, and collaborate effectively with all team members using attentive listening and respectful communication.
CompensationTarget hiring range: $25.55 to $26.05, with a maximum of $26.55.
