Overview

Environmental Permitting & Project Specialist Globe 24-7 is partnering with a mining client in British Columbia, Canada to hire an experienced Environmental Permitting & Project Specialist.

The Environmental Permitting & Project Specialist is responsible for advancing major industrial projects by managing environmental approvals, regulatory obligations, and site-based environmental initiatives in line with applicable government requirements. This role provides technical expertise and project coordination for permit applications and revisions, environmental monitoring programs, contractor and consultant management, and regulatory documentation. The position acts as a central link between environmental, regulatory, and project delivery teams to ensure permitting and environmental commitments are integrated into project execution.

This role also supports engagement with regulatory authorities, Indigenous and community groups, and internal stakeholders. It operates with a high level of autonomy in a rotational, site-based work environment, contributing to key project milestones while maintaining strong environmental and safety performance.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates strong professional conduct and promotes organizational values related to safety, responsibility, and performance.
  • Works with internal specialists and external experts to compile, analyze, and support preparation of regulatory applications, amendments, work plans, technical studies, and compliance reports.
  • Plans and manages environmental compliance initiatives, construction-related environmental activities, and site improvement projects.
  • Oversees contractors and external service providers on site while operating independently with limited supervision.
  • Provides direction and support to site-based environmental personnel, including work planning, coaching, and performance oversight.
  • Organizes and supports environmental assessment and permitting field programs in alignment with project schedules.
  • Serves as a primary connection point between environmental, regulatory, and project delivery functions to ensure coordinated execution.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of environmental management systems, permits, and operating procedures.
  • Manages preparation, review, and submission of regulatory correspondence and required notifications.
  • Supports the development and implementation of permitting and approval processes in line with governing regulations.
  • Monitors environmental and safety performance to ensure internal expectations and compliance requirements are achieved.
  • Contributes to the creation and revision of environmental plans and helps drive continuous improvement in site and contractor performance.
  • Builds and sustains effective working relationships with regulatory bodies and local or community stakeholders.
  • Encourages open communication with supervisors and peers to promote teamwork and operational effectiveness.
  • Partners with leadership, technical advisors, and subject-matter experts to address challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Performs additional duties as required in support of operational and project objectives.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safe work practices and actively encourages health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in an environmental or natural sciences discipline (e.g., environmental engineering, biology, geology, or similar), or an equivalent mix of education and relevant experience.
  • Five (5)+ years of professional experience supporting environmental programs, project delivery, regulatory compliance, and permitting activities within an industrial or resource-based setting.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience leading environmental management initiatives and maintaining productive working relationships with regulators and key stakeholders.
  • Holds, or is eligible to hold, a recognized professional accreditation in a relevant technical field.
  • Strong people leadership, communication, and planning capabilities.
  • Proficient with standard business and productivity software, including Microsoft Office applications.
