Position: Junior Designer / EIT
The Opportunity
ZE Power Engineering is an innovative industry leading company that provides engineering services to the electric utility industry. We are currently seeking an individual as a Junior Designer / EIT to contribute to our projects. Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver electrical distribution design packages for pole renewals, line extensions, underground conversions, and system improvements, ensuring compliance with BC Hydro standards.Perform structural analysis using SPIDAcalc to model pole loading, guying, and framing for tangent and angle structures.Develop construction-ready drawings, coordinating with drafting staff as needed.Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including municipalities, MoTI, railway, and pipeline companies, to obtain permits and approvals for projects.Ensure design quality and accuracy by following established standards, minimizing errors, and incorporating review feedback promptly.Support project execution by addressing field inquiries, clarifying design intent, and providing technical guidance during construction.Maintain documentation and records in accordance with client requirements (BC Hydro) and ZE Power Engineering protocols.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and technologists to meet project schedules, budgets, and deliverable requirements.Actively participate in professional development to maintain EIT status and progress toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.Requirements
Required: Strong technical and analytical skills with proficiency in engineering design tools. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple stakeholders (municipalities, MoTI, pipeline, railway, etc.). A valid Class 5 driver's license. A proactive and results-driven approach to work.Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred). Eligible for or currently registered as an EIT with EGBC. Utility experience:
Overhead pole line design with BC Hydro (highest value), other BC or Canadian utilities. FEM modeling experience (Spida Calc/PLS CADD preferred) Local candidate (preferred but not required). Familiarity with BC Hydro standards and processes.
