About the job Nurse Manager, Emergency Department

Overview:

Under the general supervision and direction of and with the authority from the Chief Nursing Officer, the Nursing Manager, Emergency Department, performs management functions for the assigned units. The Nurse Manager is responsible for monitoring performance of the staff and all patient care activities of the assigned units. The Nurse Manager is qualified to perform all patient care activities of the assigned unit.

The Nurse Manager will perform all functions in a professional and ethical manner and collaborates with other members of the health care team to ensure the provision of quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Managing staffing levels, hiring, orientation, and ongoing training.

Monitoring patient care delivery, safety, satisfaction, and compliance with infection control.

Leading performance improvement initiatives and evaluating equipment, space, and resource needs.

Collaborating across departments and supporting community outreach and education.

Maintaining professional development and fulfilling other duties as assigned by the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications:

  • License/Certification:
    Current Virginia RN license at time of hire. BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required.
  • Education/

    Experience:

    Job requires five (5) years of previous nursing experience in Emergency Services. Supervisory experience is strongly preferred. BSN is required. Master's degree is strongly preferred.
  • Special

    Qualifications:

    Ability to perform research for policy revision and development. Possess skills to perform staff instruction on policies and patient care procedures.
