Position Summary
Responsible for managing restaurant operations, in conjunction with or in the absence of the Restaurant Manager. Uses discretion in daily management decisions with accountability for ensuring effective execution of the Service Profit Chain (SPC) and Brand Promise. Primary responsibilities are to provide excellent internal service, external service, and build restaurant sales and profit while ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
KeyDuties / Responsibilities
- Internal Service:
Recruits, selects, trains, develops, and evaluates restaurant employees. Monitors staffing levels, ensures training systems implementation, identifies internal candidates for management and Team Leader roles. Creates a friendly, fun, clean, safe environment, treats all employees with care and respect, motivates to achieve high performance while adhering to company procedures, recognizes and rewards employees appropriately. Understands and utilizes JIB systems, processes, and tools;
complies with all state and federal labor laws. - External Service:
Manages daily activities to achieve operational excellence. Ensures guests receive an exceptional experience through training and accountability. Monitors adherence to JIB systems, procedures, food safety requirements. Maintains visibility, interacts with guests, addresses concerns promptly, maintains positive brand image through consistent food quality, service, cleanliness & maintenance. Serves as a role model for guest service. - Higher Profits:
Partners with Restaurant Manager in using management information tools to analyze operational and financial performance each period (I&E, quality and service reports, health inspections, HACCP). Identifies trends, consults on improvement plans, uses data to analyze results, contacts regional and CSC resources as needed. Develops and executes action plans to increase sales and profitability via the Service Profit Chain. Considers cost/benefit impact of decisions and protects the JIB brand.
Monitors costs and adherence to budget and goals.

- Education – High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience – Minimum 1+ year as Shift Leader or Assistant Manager in a customer‑service environment; must be certified in all workstations. (Internal Promote) Minimum 3 years as Assistant Manager with some P&L responsibility. (External Recruit)
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – At least 18 years old; completion of Assistant Manager training;
Serv Safe certified;
English proficiency; interpersonal skills; basic math; analytical skills; organization and planning; self‑starter; PC and software proficiency; valid driver’s license and insurance; personal vehicle required for bank deposits and travel. - Physical Requirements – Stand & walk 85–95% of shift; lift 10–65 lbs; move freely; operate equipment and vehicle; use computer keyboard.
