Overview
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is offering a 10‑week Summer High School Research Internship (HSRI) focused on mass‑spectrometry‑based proteomics for human aging research. The program is for students currently enrolled in a Tri‑Cities, WA area high school and will begin on June 16, 2026.
ResponsibilitiesThe internship involves learning about the applications of mass spectrometry‑based proteomics, basic data analysis skills, and analysis and interpretation of large‑scale proteomics data from human patients.
Interns will work onsite at the PNNL Richland, WA location with a scientist/mentor in a specified research area, supporting hands‑on learning and collaboration.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in a public or private high school at time of application.
- At least 16 years of age by start date.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (from beginning of 9th grade to current standing).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant coursework such as AP Biology or AP Chemistry.

CompensationMinimum salary: USD $17.13 per hour.
Maximum salary: USD $23.08 per hour.
