Overview

The Advanced Practice Nurse - Certified Nurse Practitioner practices in Hematology and Medical Oncology Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs mission. The Nurse Practitioner provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management. The NP practices to the full extent of their education - training - and certification.

Duties
  • Duties include but not limited to:
    Independently manages Hematology and Oncology patients with acute and chronic conditions
  • Emphasizes health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice
  • Develops and implements individualized care plans
  • Demonstrates leadership in interdisciplinary team collaboration
  • Orders and interprets laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
  • Monitors and manages treatment side effects and complications
  • Initiates referrals and consultations to specialty services
  • Provides education to patients and families
  • Assesses and adjusts treatment plans for optimal outcomes
  • Develops and follows Survivorship plans
  • Practices to the full extent of education - training - and certification
  • Executes medical regimens including administering medications
  • Role models professional and ethical conduct
  • Leads interdisciplinary teams
  • Educates and mentors colleagues and students

    Work Schedule:

    Monday through Friday - 8:00am - 4:30pm - Tour of duty to be determined by supervisor

Qualifications
