Under minimal supervision, the Senior Industrial Hygienist is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under minimal supervision performs complex technical work in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements;
exhibits knowledge and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of industrial hygiene; develops, implements and maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards; develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs;
provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice; may provide guidance for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.
This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS- Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.
- Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.
- Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.
- Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and program compliance documents.
- Establishes and maintains permits as required.
- Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.
- Develops and implements IH programs including IH processes, procedures and/or specifications.
- Develops IH training programs and conducts IH training meetings as necessary.
- Performs statistical analysis of IH data.
- Trains and assists subordinate industrial hygienists in sampling and assessment methodologies.
- Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.

BS/MS in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related science or engineering field.
ExperienceBS + 10 years of industrial hygiene related experience or MS + 7 years of industrial hygiene related experience.
Preferred ExperienceABIH Certification (CIH) preferred. Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment is preferred.

Performs desk work, including writing, computer, etc. in support of line management safety and health needs. Review and generation of Safety and Health reports, records, etc. Development/management of Safety and Health process/procedure, training, metrics, etc. Perform Safety and Health surveillances and assessments.
Records generation, instrumentation and equipment management, and other industrial safety/hygiene functions. Oversights and mentors Line Management and workers on the implementation of industrial safety/hygiene hazard controls. Responds to events providing injury/illness response, monitoring of conditions, etc. Hazard analysis and control determinations in support of project work activities. And conducts oversight and monitoring during work task performance to verify that exposure control mechanisms are sufficient to protect workers.
Thisposition is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentumvisa sponsorship now or in the future. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
