Overview
Bechtel invites applications for a part-time telework position based in Richland, WA. This opportunity involves working on the Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant project, with an emphasis on supporting the spares program for the High-Level Waste Facility. The role requires full-time presence initially, with potential for part-time telework as the project progresses, and operates on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.
Job SummaryThis position is responsible for the development and implementation of programmatic and technical activities relating to the spares program. The engineer will interface with Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC), commissioning and operations, developing program documents, procedures, specifications, and evaluations in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Collaboration with engineering, automation, and discipline groups in a team environment is required, under the direction of the Quality Engineering Manager.
The ability to coordinate and facilitate technical discussions and to interact effectively with all staff levels is essential. Initiative to solve problems and develop practical solutions is expected.
- Support the HLW Spares Program.
- Resolve technical issues independently, including interface with other disciplines, groups, suppliers, and the customer.
- Coordinate with other technical disciplines to plan and execute work as an integrated team.
- Develop, review, concur with, and/or assess engineering technical documents.
- Develop, review, concur with, and/or assess management control procedures, technical procedures, or guides.
- Develop new procedures and processes as required.
- Facilitate and communicate with the client and stakeholders.
- Support development of project cost and schedule estimates.
- Identify and implement updates and improvements to engineering processes.
- Interface with subcontractors, vendors, and project support groups.
Level I
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Level II
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline and 8–10 years of relevant experience, or 12–14 years of relevant work experience.
- Must have the right to work in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check including verification of employment and education.
- Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site.
- Non-U.S. citizens from certain countries may be subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
- Experience in processing facilities, DOE facilities, or DOD facilities preferred.
- Operating experience with spares programs.
- FMECA/RAMI experience.
- Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and coordinate metrics and KPIs to support the program.
