Position: Electrical Engineer (II)

Job Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for an Electrical Engineer in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL, which manages and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Under minimal supervision:

  • Incorporate conventional engineering practices such as technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning where only general objectives are stated.
  • Assume technical responsibility for one or more related phases of a project and coordinate various phases of design with other engineers performing related technical work. May function as the lead on project or departmental task assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with technical requirements of assigned work, proper utilization and training of personnel operating under one’s technical guidance, and compliance with approved schedules and staffing estimates.
  • Ensure appropriate technical performance of the end product designed and developed to resolve the original problem.
  • Use and/or application of codes and standards, engineering principles, to prepare electrical designs and other design engineering documents as assigned.
  • Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems.
  • Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement designs within the 222-S Complex.
  • Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work walk‑downs.
  • Prepare technical reports, review designs, plans, and shop drawings.
  • Perform electrical analysis using Math Cad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software. Apply working knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety in the Workplace), and other codes, manuals, and standards to engineering design.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, maintenance, operations, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Demonstrate interpolative thinking and creative ability through problem‑solving.
  • Propose solutions and alternatives and provide recommendations.
  • Support the development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline and 10 years of directly related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of nuclear engineering experience.
Compensation

Grade 20: $129,063 – $162,688. The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate’s education, training, and/or relevant experience.
