Richland, WA - Salary Range: $77,980 - $118,920 annually (determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant).
We are designing and building the one‑of‑a‑kind Hanford Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant (WTIP), turning radioactive and chemical waste left from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. The project protects the Columbia River and the surrounding communities, wildlife, and salmon along its shorelines.
Job SummaryIn this role you will use 2‑D/3‑D CAD to develop piping designs and support layout for Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) engineering systems. You will produce detailed scale models, design work‑plans, and review drawings to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.
Major Responsibilities- Develop designs for complete and complex 3D model equipment layouts & pipe designs, producing detailed scale models or construction drawings.
- Ensure compliance with approved PD&P design standards.
- Review and validate calculations, design models, drawings, and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, and functionality.
- Coordinate across disciplines to integrate overall design and technical requirements.
- Respond to client or construction questions regarding the PD&P design scope.
- Provide on‑the‑job training for PD&P design staff.
- Navigate the 3D model to feed pipe stress analysis.
- Ensure PD&P systems designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or international equivalent) and 2‑5 years of relevant experience, or 6‑9 years of relevant work experience.
- Right to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship.
- Pass pre‑employment drug screen, physical (if on site), and background check.
- Obtain a Department of Energy badge for Hanford Site access.
- Non‑U.S. citizens from DOE‑identified security concern countries must meet additional security requirements.
- Experience using pipe stress analysis programs such as ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE.
- Previous Bechtel project experience.
