Position:
Student Achievement Specialist, GEAR UP | Prosser High School (Temporary, 12‑month, 100% FTE, full‑time)
As a Student Achievement Specialist (SAS) you will provide mentorship, monitor and collect student data, and ensure program reporting requirements are met. Your will be responsible for increasing GEAR UP students’ engagement, positive academic behaviors, family connection to school information, and post‑secondary access support.
- Provide family outreach and education on college readiness.
- Offer student and academic support services, including advising.
- Assess participants’ needs and create individual action plans.
- Work closely with school personnel and community partners.
- Participate in after‑school, evening, and weekend activities.
The GEAR UP Program is federally funded by Department of Education grants, designed to increase graduation and post‑secondary success for low‑income and underrepresented students.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience in student services or a related field; a Master’s degree may substitute one (1) year of experience.
- Two (2) years of experience providing instruction or direct outreach services to students and/or working with parents in individual or group settings.
- Proficiency with computers and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel overnight and work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and occasional supervisory responsibilities.
- Valid driver’s license and meet departmental driving standards.
- Knowledge of school programs, student success, and parental involvement.
- Familiarity with school and university administration systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience managing, tracking, and reporting program data.
- Experience in student academic support programs.
Monthly salary: $4,050.92. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package: paid sick and vacation leave; paid holidays; medical, dental, life and disability insurance for employees and dependents; retirement; deferred compensation; training and development; and tuition waiver.
