Overview
At PNNL, our core capabilities are divided among major departments that refer to as directorates within the Lab, focused on a specific area of scientific research or other function, with its own leadership team and dedicated budget.
Our directorates related to Mission Support & Operations include Office of General Counsel, Business Services, Communications and External Engagement, Operational Systems, Communications and Information Technology, and Performance Management.
The Operational Systems Directorate (OSD) leads delivery of PNNL’s 10-year, $1.2 billion campus construction portfolio— the single largest construction and modernization effort in the Laboratory’s history. OSD oversees operations and facility services, maintenance, and infrastructure planning.
A team of nearly 800 staff comprise OSD, spanning a wide range of disciplines, including craftspeople, engineers, construction professionals, technicians, scientists, administrators, and specialists. Together, they ensure that PNNL’s assets, services, and OSD-led programs are managed and performing safely, securely, reliably, effectively, and efficiently.
The directorate stewards more than $250 million in annual budget authority; managing more than 2.5 million square feet of facility space across two campuses; overseeing approximately 200 regulatory program areas; and executing a multi-million-dollar facility and infrastructure project portfolio.
The Facilities & Infrastructure Operations (F&AIO) Division is responsible for operating and maintaining PNNL’s buildings, grounds, and utilities. The F&AIO team includes plant engineering, fabrication, craft services, duplicating and mail services, facility program support, relocations, and receiving. F&AIO is home to approximately 363 staff including more than 250 bargaining unit staff.
ResponsibilitiesThis full-time, temporary position is assigned to perform assigned janitorial duties not limited to dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, general cleaning, window washing, dusting, collecting waste, ordering/stocking supplies, etc. In this role, you would be expected to perform various cleaning duties which may include stooping, bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods of time. Most training is performed online; the incumbent must be able to efficiently utilize the internet, Outlook, and other computer applications.
There is a high demand for quality customer service, good judgement, positive attitude as you will be expected to provide friendly service to all office personnel. You will be expected to respond well to supervision, changing assignments and/or environments, as well as responding to emergencies and special requests.
Bargaining Unit:
- Weekly Pay: $1,118.35
- This is a bargaining unit position and will be under the Battelle/HAMTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. As a condition of employment, unless otherwise exempted, the staff member will be required to join the appropriate union affiliated with the Hanford Metal Trades Council (HAMTC) after 30 days of continuous service and pay union dues or pay agency fees to such union in lieu of joining.
This position is temporary and is expected to last 90 working days.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- A High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of proven customer service and at least one (1) year of experience in the service industry. This must be reflected in the resume submitted.
- Must have a valid state-issued driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience providing customer service through direct interaction with customers or stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge of custodial tools, equipment, and best practices in cleaning and disinfection processes.
Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment:
- You may be subjected to working around radiation, chemicals, asbestos, lasers, carcinogens, and other materials in a laboratory environment.
- This position is subject to changing to a swing shift, if the need arises.
