Position: Assistant Professor of Theatre Performance
The Snow College Theatre and Dance Department invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Theatre/Performance position that will begin in August 2026. An MA or MFA, with emphasis in acting or directing, is required. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate skills and abilities in performance, acting, and or directing on the professional level. The person in this position will be responsible for directing 1-2 of Snow College's Mainstage productions per year and for teaching courses in acting and directing including, but not limited to, Acting 1, Acting 2, Voice and Diction, Directing.

We seek a scholar/artist who will integrate into our practical and experiential program with a positive attitude. While we will consider all areas of expertise, preference will be given to those with broad performance technique backgrounds. Candidates for the position should demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and a willingness to engage students in scholarship and creative work both in and out of the classroom.

Required Qualifications:

* MA, MFA degree or higher, with emphasis in acting or directing

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative department.

* Previous teaching experience in theatre performance techniques.

* Ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and goals of the institution and the Utah State Higher Education system.

* Demonstrated commitment to promoting the welfare and best interests of students.

Preferred Qualifications:

* A proven track record of successful teaching in an undergraduate theatre program.

* Significant acting or directing experience and membership in an appropriate professional organization (e.g. AEA and/or SAG/AFTRA)

* Demonstrated ability to create a concept, form a rehearsal calendar, and block/stage a show.

* Demonstrated participation in activities that promote professional development, such as conferences, workshops, publications, etc.

* Experience in recruitment, retention, and program development
• Teach Acting I, Acting II, Voice and Diction, and Directing.

* Teach courses in performance/acting, directing, etc. with potential to develop courses within niche expertise (Shakespeare/Classical acting, Film Studies, Contemporary Theatre Studies, Musical Theater, etc.)

* Directing 1-2 Snow College's Mainstage productions per year.

* Participate in shared departmental administrative tasks, such as recruitment and academic advising. Other potential assignments could include teaching Acting for the Camera, Script Analysis, Introduction to Film, Acting for Musical Theatre, and others.
