Sports Official - Flag Football

Overview

The YMCA is currently taking applications for energetic, confident, and friendly staff to work in the sports department as Sports Officials. The Sports Official is responsible for upholding the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforcing the rules of play. The official is often the sole representative at YMCA games and is expected to take and maintain control of the games at all times.

Calls should be made fairly and quickly to the best of the official's ability. The officiating skill level will be determined by YMCA sports staff, but a general working knowledge of the sport to be officiated is required.

• Call the game fairly and make necessary calls quickly and confidently.
• Uphold the Sports Official Code of Conduct and enforce the rules of play.
• Maintain control of games as the sole representative at YMCA events.

Saturdays and some weeknights. The schedule varies depending on the number of leagues and teams.

• Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, and parents.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Energetic, enthusiastic, and motivated to share that energy with all participants.
• Strong human relations skills and a good understanding of the YMCA mission and its programs.
• Desire to deliver a quality program to children and families in the community.
• Ability to attend required trainings including First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Awareness, and other trainings as outlined by the YMCA.
• Must be 14 years or older.
