Job DescriptionThe Print Operator runs print equipment for the company’s in-house print shop including printing documents, monitoring equipment and quality checking the output. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, on-time, cost-effective production and fulfillment. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, highly organized, and motivated to complete tasks efficiently in a high-volume print production environment. This position is onsite at our Richardson, TX location.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret job tickets to determine the type of work to be done, the quantities to be produced, and the materials needed.
- Release print jobs on high-speed equipment by priority order.
- Ensure that the correct jobs are routed to the printer by comparing print request data to the actual output and samples job.
- Remove printed material or finished products from machines, move to next stage, or pack them in boxes.
- Continually monitor print quality by reviewing work as it is printed and to ensure proper operation.
- Sort, assemble, and quality‑check completed work. Follow quality control standards.
- Ensure adherence to turnaround times, deadlines, and service levels.
- Trouble‑shoot equipment issues and print production issues.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
- Retrieve and put away necessary paper stock as well as replenish inventory in work area.
- Conduct preventive maintenance including routine color calibrations, clean rollers, add toner, and fluids.
- Provide a high-level of customer service and professionalism when interacting with vendors and team members.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in print production, in-house print operations, in a related fulfillment/production environment.
- Demonstrated experience as a production operator of high-speed equipment with attention to detail and focus on quality control.
- Strong working knowledge of print production workflows (digital print preferred), RIP software, color management, and fulfillment operations.
- Experience with job ticketing/work order system and the ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and fluctuating demand with calm competence.
- Experience working collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment with problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to emerging technologies.
- Experience training in a corporate or mid‑large size business print operation.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move materials/equipment as needed (reasonable accommodations available).
- Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds, and move supplies around the building.
- Comfortable working in a production environment with printers, finishing equipment, and shipping supplies.
- May be required to cover some shifts on occasion that are outside normal business hours.
