Position Overview

The Chief Executive Officer is the senior executive leader responsible for the strategic, operational, financial, and technical direction of IAEI.

The CEO oversees long-term strategy, organizational performance, financial health, membership growth, publications, training programs, staff leadership, and external partnerships—while providing technical expertise of NFPA and ICC-related codes and standards. The role works closely with the International Board of Directors and reports directly to the International Board of Directors.

Core Leadership Responsibilities (CEO Responsibilities) Strategic Leadership & Governance
  • Lead the development, execution, evaluation, and evolution of IAEI’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and industry needs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the International Board of Directors, providing high-level insight, reporting, and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with bylaws, corporate policies, and all legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence across all programs and staff.
Organizational Management
  • Oversee all IAEI departments, including Education, Publications, Finance, Membership, Marketing, Events, Codes & Standards, and Operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and evaluate staff while ensuring proper staffing, program performance, and resource management.
  • Foster a collaborative, mission-driven organizational culture with strong internal and external communication.
Financial Oversight
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, investments, audits, and long-term financial strategy for the health and well-being of the association.
  • Ensure financial sustainability through revenue diversification (education, publications, membership, sponsor ships, partnerships, etc.).
  • Evaluate operational efficiencies and implement improvements to support organizational growth.
Industry Relations & External Partnerships
  • Represent IAEI nationally and internationally as the official spokesperson of the association.
  • Build and strengthen alliances with key organizations, including inspection authorities, electrical manufacturers, trade associations, standards development organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
  • Lead strategic partnerships similar to the IAEI–ICC alliance and pursue new collaborations that expand IAEI’s impact.
Membership Growth & Engagement
  • Oversee membership strategy, chapter engagement, recruitment/retention programs, and member value initiatives.
  • Strengthen relationships with volunteer leadership and the broader electrical safety community.
  • Promote new benefits, digital tools, and programs that support member needs.
Publications, Media, & Branding
  • Provide high-level oversight for all IAEI publications, including the quarterly magazine, technical books, digital content, and training programs.
  • Ensure consistent organizational messaging, brand integrity, and high standards of technical accuracy.
  • Serve as a public-facing executive voice through keynote addresses, interviews, and editorial contributions.
Innovation & Technology
  • Guide the integration of technology such as AI, digital learning platforms, and modern content delivery systems into IAEI programs.
  • Advance digital transformation initiatives for publications, education, and membership services.
Event & Training Coordination
  • Identify companies, AHJs, and organizations with electrical training needs.
  • Support planning and execution of training events, workshops, webinars, and conferences.
  • Provide high-level oversight to review and approve CEU requests as needed.
Technical Advisory & Code Support
  • May be required to serve as IAEI’s senior authority for NEC® and IRC electrical safety standards.
  • Answer or appropriately redirect code-related inquiries from members and professionals.
  • Shall maintain a working knowledge of key codes, standards, and emerging technologies.
Quality Assurance
  • Oversee the accuracy, integrity, and relevance of all training programs, curricula, and published materials.
  • Implement QA processes to ensure code compliance and instructional excellence.
  • Ensure certification and testing processes are rigorous, current, and aligned with industry standards.
