Job SummaryThe Clinical Education Specialist is accountable for staff orientation, competency assessments, ongoing education, and professional development of the organization’s clinical staff. They plan, develop, and facilitate ongoing opportunities for education and orientation. This role requires high levels of collaboration with departments across the entire organization. Planning and delivering clinical education and development for all clinical staff. Lead retention, professional development of staff in effort to move quality forward and reduce turnover.
Job Responsibilities- New employee orientation for clinicians including organizational polices, clinical skills, documentation, regulatory requirements, and organization structure. Supporting new employees through the entire orientation process.
- Develops and continually evaluates/updates orientation process, education materials and manuals.
- Provides updates to clinical leadership on status of new employee orientation.
- Works closely with all departments to develop educational plans and schedules for employees.
- Creates, tracks, and facilitates ongoing education to fulfill annual requirements and any education needs resulting from audits or performance evaluations.
- Perfom occasional observation visits with clinicians in patients’ homes to assess competencies in clinical practice.
- Ongoing monthly/annual training requirements (ie, Home Health Aide/Certified Nursing Assistant) Plans and coordinates annual skills and competency trainings.
- Works with the quality and regulatory staff to develop training based on audits and regulatory requirements.
- Management of LMS modules and programs.
- Accountable for all HIPAA privacy and security standards according to regulations and agency policies.
- Development and implementation of education on new policies and processes, documentation and clinical practices.
- Assists in developing standardized processes and education materials for safe and efficient patient care.
- Work in conjunction with both Home Health and the Hospice programs as applicable.
- Participate in the QAPI programs and projects.
- Organize and maintain education and competency files according to regulations and agency policy.
- Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude, and teamwork.
- Demonstrates high level of quality work, attendance, and appearance.
- Adheres to all Company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Adheres to local, state, and federal laws.
- Remain current on education and instructional methodologies, including applicable technology and resources available.
- Additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor related to your position and/or department.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
- Minimum 3 years direct home health and hospice experience.
- Experience and understanding of home health regulatory requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Certified in OASIS assessments or willing to become certified within 6 months of hire.
- Must hold and maintain a current CPR certification.
- Minimum one (1) year experienced in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs in the field of nursing (preferred).
- Knowledge of state, federal and licensing/certification regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee, and company proprietary information.
- Able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to read, count and write to accurately complete all documentation and reports.
- Manual dexterity required using hands to finger; handle, feel and type; reach with hands and arms.
- Have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned; must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
