Our client in the Richardson area is seeking a Payroll and Accounting Specialist to support the end-to-end execution of multi-cycle payroll and supporting the accounting processes.

This is a Temporary to Hire opportunity, located 100% onsite M-F 8:00am-5:00pm!

You will serve as the subject matter expert, managing payroll for up to 400 employees while ensuring total compliance with federal/state laws and internal policies. This role requires a high-integrity professional who can pivot seamlessly between meticulous data entry and high-level financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Administration & Compliance
  • End-to-End Processing: Manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles for 400+ employees using Paychex Flex.
  • Data Integrity: Review and document all personnel changes, including new hires, terminations, transfers, deductions, and benefit hour balances.
  • Dispute Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for employee and management queries regarding pay, taxes, and with holdings.
  • Audit Support: Lead documentation prep for internal and external audits, including 401K, Workers' Compensation, and annual benefits audits.
  • Incentives: Serve as the primary backup for calculating complex sales commissions and management bonus structures.
  • General Ledger: Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries and assist with month-end close analysis.
  • Treasury Support: Act as the backup for bank account reconciliations and cash flow monitoring.
  • Ad-Hoc Reporting: Design and generate custom reports in Excel and Word to provide management with actionable insights on labor costs and trends.
  • Best Practices: Maintain rigorous confidentiality and ensure all processes align with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and "Best Payroll Practices."
Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required;
    Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance is strongly preferred.
  • Software Expertise: Proficiency in Paychex Flex a plus to have and the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Excel functions like Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs).
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and 401K administration.

  • Exceptional Time Management: Ability to plan cycles months in advance while meeting immediate deadlines.
  • Customer Service Excellence: A proactive, empathetic approach to resolving employee concerns.
  • Adaptability: A "team-player" mindset with a willingness to cross-train and support other finance functions as needed.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $60,000.00 - $65,000.00
