Job SummaryThe Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS) at the University of Texas at Dallas invites applications for six full-time, non‑tenure track faculty positions in our new First Year Program launching in fall 2026. These appointments establish a foundational research/education hub that transforms undergraduate engineering and computer science by teaching problem‑solving through design, computation, and systems thinking. Faculty will teach 3–4 first‑year courses per semester, develop curriculum, and participate in faculty learning communities.
Responsibilities- Teach 3–4 sections of first‑year courses in the program, with the opportunity to teach courses in their home department specialization.
- Contribute to coordinated curriculum development, assessment, and faculty learning communities within the First Year Program.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of the First Year Program and home academic department.
- Engage in teaching innovation and scholarship related to engineering education.
- Minimum:
Master of Science in engineering, computer science, or a related field with professional and/or teaching experience. - Preferred:
PhD or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline. - Demonstrated ability to teach effectively in a diverse, collaborative environment using evidence‑based practices.
- Commitment to engaging students from varied backgrounds and experiences.
- Full curriculum vitae and cover letter summarizing teaching area and qualifications.
- Statement of teaching philosophy (≤1 page).
- Engagement statement (≤1 page).
- Teaching innovation statement (≤1 page).
- Contact information for at least three references.
Priority will be given to completed applications received by February 15, 2026. The search will continue until positions are filled or the search is closed on August 1, 2026.
