Job Summary

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies seeks a part‑time lecturer as a University Field Supervisor (UFS). UFSs supervise, mentor and interact with pre‑service teacher candidates, campus principals, and their cooperating/host/mentor teachers as prescribed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Through observation, assessment and evaluation of pre‑service candidates, UFSs provide high‑quality feedback that results in actionable improvement of their practice.

UFSs also interact with Teacher Development Center (TDC) faculty and staff as needed to execute responsibilities promptly, attend all UFS meetings, participate in the design and delivery of candidate seminars, and meet regularly with their pre‑service candidate cohorts. They are responsible for completing all TEA and TDC documentation required for pre‑service candidates.

Minimum Education and Experience

• An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline/topic and a record of productivity and professional achievement.

Preferred

Education and Experience

• A Master's degree in Education or closely related field.
• Texas certified elementary (EC‑6), secondary (4‑8 and/or 7‑12) content field classroom teacher and/or Texas principal certification.
• At least five years teaching experience with children EC‑6, 4‑8 and/or 7‑12.

Other Qualifications

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence.
  • Contribute assessment information and data as requested.
  • Mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students in the field.
  • Work with other University Field Supervisors (UFSs) and Teacher Development Center (TDC) faculty.
  • Act as liaison and campus administrators.
