General Construction Engineer​/Estimator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced General Construction Engineer / Estimator based in Plano, TX. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in construction, with a strong focus on single-family residential projects. This individual will play a critical role in preconstruction planning, cost estimating, and project coordination for a growing general contractor serving the Plano area. This is an on-site position involving both ground-up residential construction and home renovation projects throughout Plano.

Candidates must have hands‑on experience preparing detailed estimates, reviewing construction drawings, and supporting ongoing field operations.

• Prepare accurate cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for single-family residential construction projects.
• Review architectural and engineering plans to determine project scope, material requirements, and labor needs.
• Solicit, analyze, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and cost efficiency.
• Develop, track, and maintain project budgets, including monitoring changes and cost impacts.
• Collaborate with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates align with actual construction conditions and execution.
• Participate in value engineering efforts to improve cost efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
• Assist with permitting processes, scheduling coordination, and compliance with local building codes in Plano.
• Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, budgets, and project documentation.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating or construction engineering.
• Strong experience with single-family residential construction.
• Proficiency with construction estimating and project management software such as Buildertrend, Procore, Plan Swift, or Bluebeam.
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and residential building codes.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze architectural and structural drawings.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
