Payroll/Accounting Specialist

Temp to Hire
Pay: $60K - $65K annually ($28.85-$31.25 per hour)

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Our client is seeking a talented individual to work in their corporate accounting team. This position requires a basic understanding of accounting, and payroll experience and will report to the Controller and interface with upper management.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and enter General Ledger accounting entries.
  • Assist with monthly close processing and analysis.
  • Backup for bank account reconciliations.
  • Prepare AD HOC reports for management while utilizing Excel and Microsoft Word.
  • Ensure timely compliance and accurate payroll by reviewing, preparing, processing, and thoroughly documenting the pay data (changes, transfers, terminations, new hires, deductions, benefit hour balances, etc.) on the bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll using Paychex Flex.
  • Resolve outstanding issues or concerns in a timely and responsive manner to queries from employees, management, and external sources.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll, benefits, workers’ compensation, and 401K retirement.
  • Work independently using a thorough knowledge of payroll administration and Best Payroll Practices in accordance with policies and procedures, and governmental laws and regulations, while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Back up for calculating monthly sales commissions and manager bonuses based on bonus plans.
Requirements
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills.
  • Communication proficiency.
  • Strong time management skills.
Experience in the following areas
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED): college work in business is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Paychex Flex
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, and Excel.
