Become a DCP Planning, Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and preparing complex electrical designs for several internal organizations. You’ll work with our design contract partners, mentor and lead planning associates and designers. - Conduct long‑term grid import planning analyses and transmission interconnection assessments and projects. Manage large design projects from inception to construction completion, ensuring compliance with electrical designs.
- Support the company’s electrical distribution system by developing and designing plans, identifying necessary resources, and providing cost estimates and options for constructing distribution facilities.
- Make decisions that directly impact project scope, timing, scope, and budget.
- Perform field inspections to gather data relevant to the planning and development review process and verify compliance with approved plans.
- Assess the capabilities of the regional distribution system and its compliance with planning criteria.
- Conduct power‑flow studies, build power‑flow models, and prepare economic analyses to develop short‑ and long‑term distribution system plans.
- Ensure distribution system performance meets reliability targets and analyze outages for cause, trends and duration.
- Coordinate activities with other internal personnel and/or organizations to ensure compliance and appropriate follow‑through of policies, procedures, rules, rates, and completion dates applicable to assigned projects.
- Stay up to date on current industry practices, standards and customer needs. Interact with a diverse customer base on meeting electrical design needs and provide successful outcomes for the customer and SCE on assigned or requested projects.
- Provide training and support, assessing and managing workload when necessary.
- Protect all physical, financial and cybersecurity assets and properly manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other highly sensitive information.
- Three or more years of experience in electrical utility distribution, transmission or telecommunication design, line construction, or engineering discipline.
- Possess a valid Class C driver’s license.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Auto Desk Utility Design (AUD), SPIDA (or other pole‑loading programs).
- Experience managing multiple projects and/or sensitive projects, functioning effectively under tight time constraints, shifting priorities and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
- This position’s work mode is hybrid
. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. - The primary work location for this position is Rialto, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at an alternate work location.
- This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or a 40‑hour/5‑day‑a‑week schedule.
